Chelsea have been pushed forward as an interested party for Juventus’ Dušan Vlahović.
The striker has 12 goals and two assists from 21 league games this season, including seven goals and an assist from the last seven games. His recent form has helped him draw the attention of the Blues.
That’s at least what Tutto Juve are reporting and they name Chelsea and Atlético Madrid as the ‘new interested teams’.
It’s said the Serbia international is back ‘under the watchful’ eyes of Mauricio Pochettino and Los Rojiblancos manager Diego Simeone.
Although the report says the west London club are the ‘new’ contender, that isn’t exactly the case. Chelsea reportedly failed to sign the 24-year-old last summer.
Chelsea and Atlético would be pleased to know his contract situation could favour them. His current deal lasts until 2026 and the Turin club are keen to extend it.
TuttoMercatoWeb state Vlahović’s annual salary will increase from €8m to €12m from next season, which Juve can’t afford. To avoid this, they are working to renew his contract at lower figures.
The Italian club’s plan is to offer him a deal until 2028 and place his salary at €9m per year, rising to €10m with bonuses. Vlahović, on the other hand, can leave Juve as a free agent in 2026, when he’ll be 26 years old, and sign a lucrative deal with another club.
Therefore, TMW state Juve now have a difficult task to extend the frontman’s contract and this could please Chelsea.
