French side Lyon have been left frustrated by Chelsea refusing to give a ‘return date’ for defender Malo Gusto and only offering the ‘bare minimum of information’ on the right-back’s injury.
Le Progres cover the player today, he has been missing from Lyon’s squad since the beginning of February when he picked up an injury in the win over Troyes.
He’s since missed clashes against Lens, Auxerre, Angers and Lorient, a major issue for the French club given the important role he has played this season.
The issue for them is that his recovery is being dealt with by Chelsea, who own the player after signing him in the January transfer window before sending him back on loan with the Ligue 1 side until the end of the season.
Le Progres explain that the Blues are currently giving Lyon the ‘bare minimum of information’ and the question of when he will return ‘remains open’.
They explain that Gusto has been ‘undergoing treatment’ in London for the past three weeks but Chelsea are yet to give Lyon a potential return date.
They believed that the injury was just a ‘discomfort that had to be treated’ but Chelsea did not see it that way and instead ‘took the hand on the file’ and wanted to deal with it in-house.
Lyon could not object to this given they are no longer his parent club and Gusto flew to London on February 13th and hasn’t returned since.
How he will cope with the situation isn’t known given he’s only 19, far from his usual environment and hasn’t been ‘integrated’ into his new surroundings. That is all causing concern for his managers in Lyon.
It’s a ‘complex issue’ and they are growing frustrated as they want a timescale on a key player returning but instead have instead found Chelsea keeping the ‘information to a minimum’
