Chelsea are have been doing everything they can do to sign a defender this summer, and the Premier League club are ready to step up their efforts with another 5 days for the transfer window to close.
However, it now appears Antonio Conte could try to sign another Serie A defender. According to Sportitalia(via TMW), Chelsea are keen on signing Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij.
It’s reported Chelsea have already initiated contacts to sign the Lazio defender.
There are similar reports on the website of Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, and it appears he has been speaking on Sportitalia.
There is additional information on his website. Pedulla says Chelsea are carefully evaluating the possibility of signing the Dutch defender, and they could make an offer of €25m plus bonuses.
Pedulla, however, doesn’t have the cleanest of track records, and we should wait for more concrete reports on this.
