The last time Chelsea went diving into the Eredivisie market, it didn’t work out all that well.

That player, in Hakim Ziyech, is still there, and the Morocco international hasn’t managed to break through at Stamford Bridge under either Frank Lampard or Thomas Tuchel despite boasting a £36m price tag.

There have been calls for him to be moved on, since the German manager cannot seem to work him into his plans, but that doesn’t mean Chelsea won’t be returning to Ajax in the near future.

We say this because the Blues are named by Gazzetta dello Sport as one of three Premier League clubs allegedly ‘pursuing’ Ryan Gravenberch.

The 18-year-old needs little to no introduction at this point, as he’s one of the key players for the Dutch club despite his young age, and already has three Netherlands caps to his name.

Perhaps wanting a bit more depth in midfield, Chelsea appear to have targeted Gravenberch, although he would be costly.

Gazzetta value him at around €35m these days, but we all know Ajax, especially when they have him under contract until 2023, will want more than that for one of their bigger talents to come through in recent years.

One to keep an eye on, for sure.
