Chelsea are ‘ready to attack’ for Napoli star Victor Osimhen and pay the €120m release clause to get him in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Il Mattino, relayed by Calcio Napoli 24, who say the Blues will pay big to secure the Nigerian for Mauricio Pochettino this summer.
The newspaper reports that Chelsea are ‘already ready’ for a big summer assault on Osimhen, who is likely to be one of the big names targeted by the biggest clubs in Europe.
The 25-year-old is considered one of the best strikers in Europe, having managed 67 goals and 17 assists in 119 games for Napoli to date and impressed at Lille before that with a record of 18 goals and six assists in 38 games there.
He’s been linked with a big move away from the Italian champions for the best part of 18 months and that will be the case again next summer.
According to Il Mattino, Chelsea intend to get ahead of the competition if it is, reporting that the Blues intend to ‘pay the entire €120m’ release clause in the Nigerian’s contract at Napoli to get him.
They’re ready to make their move and simply pay the clause to avoid any protracted negotiations and a potential battle for Osimhen’s signature.
How they’ll manage to do that and stay within Financial Fair Play rules given their spending since Todd Boehly’s and co’s arrival at Stamford Bridge is anyone’s guess, but there’s presumably a plan in place on that front.
Either way, it seems Chelsea are gearing up for a big move in the summer to get the striker their squad desperately needs.
