Because signing Moises Caicedo and Roméo Lavia wasn’t enough after already spending huge amounts of money, Chelsea are on the verge of buying Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise.
The news comes from RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who took to Twitter to reveal the details of the operation.
He claims that Chelsea and Crystal Palace have reached an ‘agreement in principle’ to sign the Frenchman, and his signing at Stamford Bridge is getting closer.
The belief is that the Blues will pay a sum ‘slightly lower than €40m’ to get the Eagles star this summer.
As for Olise, it’s recalled that he had already agreed terms to leave Crystal Palace for Chelsea, and he will sign a ‘long-term contract’ at his new club.
That last detail really shouldn’t be a surprise, considering most signings since Todd Boehly took over have put pen to paper to deals over five years long, and we can expect Olise to do the same.
Down Crystal Palace’s end, this is certainly a blow for Roy Hodgson, although if the Portuguese media are to be believed, they already have a replacement lined up.
