On Tuesday evening, AS in Spain claimed both Madrid sides could be set to try and battle it out for Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso before the end of the month.

The pair like what the Blues’ man has to offer, especially in terms of versatility, but with Maurizio Sarri unable to replace him now that the transfer window is shut in England, it seemed unlikely the Premier League side would sell such an important asset this month.

His importance, in fact, is highlighted by Marca on Wednesday, who have an article on Paris Saint-Germain’s prior interest in the Chelsea man, dating back to the beginning of the summer.

The Spanish outlet claim a couple of meetings even took place between the two sides regarding the left-back, but the Blues weren’t interested in selling.

Furthermore, Maurizio Sarri made it clear to the player he was counting on him once he finally replaced Antonio Conte in the dugout at Stamford Bridge.

Paris Saint-Germain, having sold Yuri Berchiche to Athletic Bilbao and finding it hard to trust Layvin Kurzawa, are currently scrambling around Europe looking for a starting player in the role.

Their first target was Marcos Alonso, but that ship has now sailed, and their focus appears to be Atlético Madrid’s Filipe Luis.
