Earlier this week, we covereed Marca’s report on a transfer musical chairs involving the possibility of Chelsea landing Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jörgensen. The move is now making progress and there is some good news for those at Stamford Bridge.
El Periódico Mediterráneo have reported today that with Villarreal looking for a new goalkeeper to replace the 22-year-old, Chelsea have ‘practically an reached agreement’ over personal terms already.
The Blues discussed the situation with the entourage of the goalkeeper and wanted to beat interest from Marseille, with both the potential suitors yet to reach any agreement with Villarreal.
Chelsea’s initial offer was low. They, like Marseille, put forward €20m for the Sweden-born Danish youth international, but the Yellow Submarines rejected both approaches.
Jörgensen’s current release clause sits at €45 m and Villarreal will be happy to sell him for a fee half that price.
There is further good news for Chelsea though, as Marseille seem to have dropped their interest and that could give the Blues a free run at Jörgensen.
