Following this week’s claims which said Matheus França was close to leaving Flamengo for Chelsea, a report from Globo Esporte today explains this situation.
Their report affirms that the Blues’ interest is real, and their representatives already spoke to the player about it.
There is, however, no bid from Chelsea, so the negotiation is said to be ‘on hold’ until the official offer is submitted.
Now in case the numbers reported by Globo Esporte are true, then there are very good chances of a deal.
The outlet claims that Flamengo’s request is of €25m. They’re said to have ‘open doors’ for an official bid.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are willing to pay €20m up front plus €5m in performance bonuses. So it sounds like the clubs are not far off from an agreement.
Earlier this week, Flamengo chief Bruno Spindel spoke to the local media about the rumours surrounding Matheus França and explained there were no offers from Chelsea so far.
So despite all the optimism from recent reports about this deal, it indeed seems like the Blues are still to make their final effort for the signing.
