Chelsea have already sold Kalidou Koulibaly and Édouard Mendy to Al Hilal and Al Ahli respectively and Hakim Ziyech was set to follow the duo to Saudi Arabia in the summer window.

On June 22th, Gianluca Di Marzio reported the Blues forward’s transfer to Al Nassr FC was ‘already done’.

The 30-year-old has now suffered a ‘terrible blow’ in his efforts to make a switch to Saudi Arabia, if a report from Foot Mercato is to be believed.

It’s stated Chelsea were set to receive a fee around €15m for the Moroccan, who was offered a deal worth €12-13m per year. After the agreement between the two clubs, the former Ajax man underwent his medical with Al Nassr.

According to Foot Mercato, the Middle Eastern club ‘discovered a knee problem’ during the medical tests and are now very reluctant to buy him in this window. Therefore, the report states Ziyech’s move to Al Nassr is ‘likely to fall apart’.

Should the Chelsea player fail to complete a move to Al Nassr, it will be his second setback this year, after his move to Paris Saint-Germain collapsed in the winter market.
