This week, we saw Chelsea defender Thiago Silva claiming that his future is completely open, as he hasn’t decided where to play in the final years of his career.
It’s no secret that Fluminense have been long hoping that the centre-back will return to the club at some point, and it seems there’s some new excitement about that possibility.
Outlet Itatiaia now writes that with the interview given by the Chelsea player, the ‘euphoria’ grew at the Brazilian side.
It’s said there’s ‘optimism’ at Fluminense that they’ll join them next summer, when his contract with the Blues expires and he could become a free agent.
There’s nothing agreed, as Silva is still to give the club this word. Still, the expectation is that he soon signs with them.
The defender previously said he’d like to end his career at Fluminense, and since he’s turning 40 in September, it’s about time to make that decision.
Silva remains being an important player for Chelsea, though, with 24 appearances this season, and having an impressive regularity for a player at such advanced age.
