If there’s one thing the French and Italian media are in sync with, it’s the fact that Olivier Giroud will be leaving Chelsea and heading to Milan.

The Frenchman was only a part time player under Thomas Tuchel last season, having to make do with a handful of minutes here and there to prove his worth.

It nearly cost him a place in Didier Deschamps’ squad at the Euros, which he did end up taking part in, although not as a starter, dethroned by the return of Karim Benzema.

The player appears to be setting himself one final challenge now, with Milan wanting him to help backup an ageing Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their squad.

The deal has been in the works for quite some time, but it appears to be nearing its end, with Mohamed Bouhafsi reporting that Giroud ‘will sign’ with his new club on Friday.

He will ‘undergo his medical’ that same day before ‘signing a two-year contract straight after’, putting an end to a long and drawn out saga.
