Even though we’ve grown used to seeing Chelsea fullback Emerson Palmieri being linked to Italian clubs for months, it’s actually quite interesting how strong the rumours are about his future today.
The latest updates on his situation are brought by journalist Ciro Venerato, from RAI. At the Goal Show, he revealed the information he has on Napoli’s chase for the player.
“Aurelio De Laurentiis and Cristiano Giuntoli, to convince Luciano Spalletti to join Napoli, they promised him that by 31st of August the Campania management will buy him a left-back. We’re in June, there’s still time to evaluate everything,” said Venerato (via Area Napoli).
“Emerson Palmieri is the true dream of Luciano Spalletti: the Tuscan has made it clear that he strongly wants the player, having coached him also at Roma. It will not be easy also because the player has an important salary and there is interest in the player, between the others, including Simone Inzaghi’s Inter. The management of Beneamata would have the necessary liquidity to aim for the fullback, especially if they sell Hakimi.”
Emerson Palmieri has been linked to many other Italian sides, including Inter Milan, Juventus and Milan. But despite the claims of interest, there were never such strong reports as we now see about Napoli.
Last week, it was said the club are offering €15m for his move.
The Chelsea left-back is now with the Italian national team at the Euros, and when recently speaking about his future, his agent claimed that a return to Italy could happen in the ‘ideal scenario’. Still, he made it clear that they need to first understand what plans the Blues have for him.
