Malang Sarr’s contract with Nice expired at the end of June 2020, and he subsequently signed a five year agreement with Chelsea.

Spending last season on loan at FC Porto, the period didn’t go as everyone had hoped and the central defender dropped out of the first team picture in the second half of his season in Portugal.

Returning to Chelsea, the 22-year-old has 270 minutes under Thomas Tuchel, with just 90 of those coming in the Premier League. He wasn’t in the squad for Sunday’s match against Manchester United, and is now on his way out of Chelsea, according to claims from Italy.

SportMediaSet report that after learning he wouldn’t be in the squad, Sarr flew to Italy, spent Sunday evening in Milan, and is negotiating a January move to Inter Milan.

According to the report, he’s likely to move initially on loan with a purchase option in the deal.

The figure is yet to be fixed, but SportMediaSet believe it could be around €15m, representing a decent bit of business of Chelsea, less the wages and any agent fees they’ll have invested.

Sarr’s move is now ‘close’ to being agreed, and this is a January transfer in the making.
