AC Milan have reopened talks with Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech about a move this month and the Moroccan is tempted by the switch and the prospect of a ‘guaranteed leading role’ at the club.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say that Ziyech is ‘back on trend’ at the club and the Rossoneri’s management have made ‘new contact’ with him in the last few hours.
The forward has found himself more at home at Chelsea after the World Cup, featuring more under Graham Potter after impressing in Qatar.
However the limelight is only ‘intermittent’ and there is a belief he will find himself out of the team again before long, particularly with Chelsea continuing to spend money on players.
At Milan he would have a ‘guaranteed leading role’ and that is appealing to him after a disappointing few years at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are more than willing to let him go and would even be open to a loan with a right of redemption included.
Milan also see Ziyech as a more affordable option compared to Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo and believe a deal would be ‘less demanding’ than any for the Italian. However, the €6m a year he earns at Chelsea is a problem.
That could be resolved with a loan until the end of the season which would see them only pay €3m before rediscussing his wages in the summer.
That is something to be worked out but Ziyech is firmly back in fashion after being a target in the summer and the player is more than open to the move should Milan decide to make it before the end of the window.
