This week, we covered reports from Brazil about the debt that Vasco da Gama own Andrey Santos from his transfer to Chelsea.
When the Rio de Janeiro club sold him to the Blues in January, they were supposed to pay the player 30% of the fee, and that didn’t happen. Due to the lack of work permit in England, he was loaned back to the South American side, when they agreed that the payment would be made in a few instalments.
It turns out that as now reported by Globo Esporte, Andrey Santos is taking legal against the club.
It’s said he and his representatives will request the two delayed instalments from the £1.94m debt they have with him.
That obviously makes it an uncomfortable situation for Andrey at Vasco, because he’s loaned by Chelsea until July.
The player is currently out with the national team for the U-20 World Cup, as his participation in the tournament was a demand from the Blues to authorise the loan.
His return to Vasco depends on how far Brazil will get in the competition, but he should have a few more appearances until he’s back to Chelsea. And it’s likely he’ll find a strange scenario when playing for a club he’s currently dragging to the courts.
