Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen turned down an approach from Real Madrid to reach an agreement with Barcelona for this summer.
That’s according to Sport, who cover the defender’s situation today and his desire to move to the Camp Nou and not the Bernabeu.
The newspaper says the Chelsea man is ‘one of the most desirable’ centre-backs on the market because, in addition to his abilities, his contract expires this summer.
Barcelona have been ‘quick and agile’ when it comes to securing his signature ahead of the competition, something that wasn’t easy because Bayern Munich were keen, and Real Madrid have ‘recently shown their desire’ to sign him as well.
It is Barcelona who have won the race, though, with Sport explaining that Christensen will sign a four-year deal with the Catalans when his Chelsea contract ends in the summer.
Barca have already ‘finalised’ a deal with the centre-back, who will sign a four-year deal at the club worth €6m a year.
Chelsea, for their part, have already ‘written him off’ and believe that regardless of what they do, Christensen will be moving to Spain. In fact, all that is missing is the ‘officialisation and signing’ on his move to Barcelona.
Christensen and Barcelona have ‘already agreed all the details’ on the move with the added bonus for the latter that they’ve beaten their fiercest rivals to secure the deal.
