Atlético Mineiro midfielder Nathan has given a press conference this Tuesday, and once again, he was asked about his future.
The player has been loaned by Chelsea to the Brazilian side until the end of the year, and it still isn’t clear if he will return to England.
But Nathan continues to talk about his wish to stay, claiming that he’s very happy at Atlético, as people work on the transfer for him.
“My life has always been made of opportunities. Here’s a place I like, I feel very good. I will leave this in the hands of my father and of the board. Right now I just want to focus on playing ball”, he said (via Gazeta Esportiva).
Nathan’s contract with Chelsea expires in the summer of 2020. So in case he gets to stay at Atletico, he would either renew the loan deal for another six months or rescind his contract with the Blues and join the Brazilian side for free on a permanent contract.
Last week, Atletico director Rui Costa also spoke to the press about Nathan’s situation, but claimed that things are not so easy, especially because they would have to afford all of his wages.
“I would like to say to the fans that Nathan is now a reality. That we will be able to guarantee his presence next year is something I won’t talk about, because I work with the truth.”
“We’re working on it, but the values, the characteristic, the matrix of the contract is very similar to what I found here.”
