For Chelsea fans who aren’t aware, José Mourinho’s AS Roma are currently suffering from something of a defensive crisis, with key players injured and Evan Ndicka set to leave for the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
That’s why the Portuguese manager wants a new centre-back to arrive in the next transfer window, and could turn to his former club to get someone.
This wouldn’t be the first time Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah has been linked with a move to Italy, and Sky Italia, relayed by Goal Italia, state that a move has been made from the Serie A side.
It’s said that AS Roma have ‘made a loan request’, meaning an offer, to the Blues for the loan of the 24-year-old.
The problem that Chelsea have, it seems, is that they ‘only have one slot’ left to use before meeting the loan quota, and ‘will have to choose’ which player they want to use it on so he can get minutes until the end of the season.
That’s a decision the Stamford Bridge transfer men will have to make in the coming weeks, but if they do decide on Chalobah being the one with the golden ticket, then they know Roma are there waiting for him with open arms.
