Chelsea midfielder Hakim Ziyech has been having a tough time in the past couple of months.
Back during the transfer window, it wasn’t even known if he’d stay with the Blues for one more year, as he was linked to a move to Ajax.
Now with the season started, he only managed to make three appearances, and is clearly not one of the priorities in the squad.
It turns out, however, that there’s great news for him on national team level, that’s because he’s now been called up by Morocco for the friendly matches against Chile and Paraguay this month.
As reported by RMC Sport, Ziyech hadn’t been part of the squad in over a year, as the Chelsea player had a conflict with then-manager Vahid Halilhodzic, who publicly complained about his lack of commitment.
The coach, however, left Morocco’s national team and was replaced by Walid Regragui.
With the new boss calling up the 29-year-old, there are now good chances the midfielder could go to the World Cup later this year.
With Ziyech having a new chance on international football, perhaps that could help him turn things around and get a fresh start at Chelsea as well.
