Chelsea star Enzo Fernández impressed in Argentina’s 3-0 win over Bolivia in the World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.
The midfielder, who played the full 90 minutes, opened the scoring for the World Cup winners in the 31st minute.
Argentine newspaper Olé gave him a rating of 9/10 for his latest display and it’s the highest rating awarded to La Albiceleste players for yesterday’s clash.
They also have another piece focusing on the 22-year-old’s performance, titled ‘Giant Enzo’.
Last summer, Fernández left River Plate for Benfica before moving to the west London club earlier this year. He was also impressive in Argentina’s World Cup success in December 2022.
Olé explain that it’s ‘already clear that nothing weighs on him’, and he showed in La Paz yesterday that even playing in such a high altitude for the first time wouldn’t stop him from impressing for his country.
Despite the challenging conditions in Bolivia, the Chelsea player said: “The truth is that I was able to adapt well and I felt good the entire game. Perhaps the most difficult thing was the first 20 minutes.”
Fernández and his teammates were welcomed warmly by Bolivia supporters, and this left him surprised.
Prior to joining the national team camp, Fernández scored his first goal for Chelsea in their EFL Cup win over AFC Wimbledon.
Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping for his compatriot to extend his good run in the Blues’ upcoming fixtures.
