In the winter 2022 window, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was absolutely desperate to leave Arsenal for Barcelona.

He even travelled to Catalonia far before a deal was agreed between the two clubs. The local media pictured him in offices at the Camp Nou, as his agents worked to try and get a deal done.

Aubameyang had to accept lower wages than he’d been used to, and Barcelona finally managed to register his signing. Unfortunately, his dream move didn’t last very long at all, and at the beginning of September he became a Chelsea player.

Barcelona made some money from the deal, and Aubameyang got a pay rise, but all hasn’t gone well for the player at Chelsea. He’s not as happy as he once was, and clearly feels he has unfinished business at previous club.

Sunday’s edition of AS again covers the Chelsea player’s recent trip to the Camp Nou. The headline says he’s ‘crazy’ for a transfer back to Barcelona and is ‘willing to make a huge effort’ to help the move happen.

The biggest barrier in the way of a move is said to be Chelsea, with it being made clear the only way Barcelona can sign Aubameyang is as a free agent. Now it’s down to the Premier League club to decide if they want to release him.
