It seems that Romelu Lukaku and Inter Milan are getting a bit antsy about striking a deal with Chelsea for the Belgian’s move back to Italy.
The striker has a few more days of holidays left since he represented his country after the season ended, and that’s given everyone a bit more time, although that is running out.
Gazzetta dello Sport have a big article on it on Friday, and explain the Chelsea player ‘doesn’t want to go back to London, even in passing’.
As things stand, he’s expected at the Blues’ training camp on July 12th, meaning next week will be a ‘key one’ for the goalscorer and his future.
Inter Milan, down their end, would also like to avoid him having to perform a pit stop in the capital, and ‘want to close the deal by that date’.
While this sort of deal could have needed some more face to face time, it’s explained there ‘will be no need’ for that, because everyone knows where they stand.
Chelsea want ‘at least €40m’ for the striker, on whom they know they will make a loss, but the Serie A side believe that the figure ‘can go down’ or that the Stamford Bridge side can open up to their favoured formula, which would be a paid loan with a €30m obligatory purchase clause.
They would increase that with bonuses that could be triggered should the club win some trophies, but the initial aim would be to only spend €30m next summer.
There is no desire for delays in Milan, and they want to be as ready as they can be on August 20th in order to get back on top of Italian football, with a Lukaku fit and raring to go.
