Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen has turned down an opportunity to join Burnley as he favours a move to Borussia Dortmund in the winter market.
That’s according to Bild, who state the left-back rejected Burnley’s lucrative offer because he ‘really wants’ to join the Bundesliga side.
It’s claimed Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl took a ‘decisive’ step on Saturday to sign the Chelsea player.
The loan deal hasn’t been finalised yet but the report states the two clubs have reached a verbal agreement for the 21-year-old to move to Signal Iduna Park until the end of the season.
Bild say Edin Terzić will be without Julian Ryerson for weeks while Guille Bueno picked up a knee injury in the friendly tie against AZ Alkmaar at the weekend. Therefore, Kehl is now working to get the Maatsen deal over the line ‘very quickly’.
Journalist Rudy Galetti also states the Dutchman is keen on joining BVB and has agreed personal terms with them.
He adds negotiations for the loan deal are at an advanced stage but ‘not done yet’ as the two clubs are discussing an option to buy.
This is expected to be sorted out soon as Galetti claims Dortmund are set to agree a deal with Chelsea for Maatsen.
