Following all the rumours surrounding Sevilla defender Jules Kounde this summer, it now looks like Chelsea are leading the race for the 22-year-old.

Sky Sport journalist Gianluca Di Marzio today reports that the Blues opened talks with the La Liga side for the move.

It’s claimed that the Stamford Bridge club have set Kounde as their main defensive target and are now engaged in negotiations for his transfer.

According to Di Marzio, who also referenced Sky Italia as a source, Chelsea already know about the player’s wish to make the move and now have ‘optimism’ in the talks.

The report claims there’s no agreement between the clubs so far, but there’s the ‘feeling’ that in the end, the transfer will be done.

Di Marzio doesn’t say how much Chelsea are currently offering for Koundé.

Valued by Transfermarkt at 60m, the defender has also been linked to the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur lately.
