Chelsea’s chase for Victor Lindelof was reportedly repeatedly last summer, when the Blues were desperate to sign a defender.

As A Bola are reporting that Antonio Conte’s side sent scouts to Benfica’s match against Dinamo Kiev this week, it’s surprising the newspaper didn’t link one thing to another.

Lindelof is the only Benfica player who has been repeatedly linked to Chelsea recently, and did a decent job in the match by helping the team to keep a clean sheet in their 1-0 win over Dinamo Kiev.

With a €30m release clause, Lindelof has attracted interest from several European clubs, including Juventus, who were also at the Estádio da Luz last night as well.

CapturarIn case Chelsea have given up on Lindelof during the summer, they still will have seen good performances from Ederson, Ljubomir Fejsa, Pizzi Fernandes, Eduardo Salvi and Franco Servi.

The list of scouts for the match was pretty long. Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Sunderland, West Brom, Middlesbrough, Sheffield Wednesday, Newcastle United, Aston Villa Milan, Inter Milan Celtic, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg, Celta Vigo, Barcelona, Sevilla, Osasuna, Villarreal, Monaco, Montpellier and Sassuolo have all sent their officials too.
