Chelsea had a representative in Brazil watching Bruno Guimarães’ display against Boca Juniors on Tuesday night, according to reports.

André Rizek, from channel SporTV, says the Blues are keen on the Athletico Paranaense midfielder, and will soon make moves to try and get him.

He says the player is already being negotiated with Shakhtar Donetsk, but Chelsea will crash into the conversations and try to get a deal for the 21-year-old.

The pundit informs that the player has a partnership with Giuliano Bertolucci, the same agent who’s been involved in several Chelsea deals in the past few years.

Rizek said “Chelsea are impressed with the player” and “want to take him to England”.

It’s worth noticing that André Rizek is one of the most important football pundits in the Brazilian media. He hosts a couple of SporTV shows and isn’t really used to pushing exclusive information these days. So this is a reliable source and a story we should keep an eye on.

Bruno Guimarães has been impressing for Athletico for a few months now, and the attention becomes bigger in a game like the one from Tuesday, where he had a big part in the 3-0 win over Boca Juniors in the Copa Libertadores. Rizek himself says  Bruno ‘is not a defensive midfielder, he’s an attacking midfielder’ because of the creative qualities he has, which are not usual for defensive midfielders in Brazil.
