The Italian media are getting excited about the possibility of AC Milan signing Alvaro Morata.

With their Chinese takeover finally completed this year, Milan have been spending more than any other club in Europe and the majority of their starting eleven next season is likely to be new players.

Leonardo Bonucci, linked with Manchester City and Chelsea last year, arriving has changed things somewhat, a lot more people are starting to take notice of what’s happening at the Rossoneri. Gazzetta dello Sport believe it’s also attracting other players, with Morata named as the next possible big signing.

Chelsea have offered Morata €9m per year after tax to join them, claim Gazzetta, and that would be a big wage. Whilst the before tax figure wouldn’t be double that, with footballer’s having pretty good tax advice (outside of Spain anyway), it’s still a hefty sum.

However, Gazzetta believe the Antonio Conte target could snub Chelsea, because Milan would offer €10m a year after tax, and want to make Morata an important part of their new project.

With the signings Milan have made, and their illustrious history, the Italian club will now think they’re as attractive as Chelsea, and that’s the theme in the Italian media.

Pleasing Morata is only half of the battle for Chelsea and Milan, and perhaps the easier part, they’d also have to come up with a fee to please Real Madrid.
