Chelsea’s potential swap deal with Juventus involving Romelu Lukaku and Dusan Vlahovic appears to be off, with the latest set of meetings not leading to anything positive.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who cover Lukaku today and explain how the move to Juventus seems unlikely to come off this summer.
They report that Lukaku’s future is looking bleak at this moment in time, with him very much not a part of Chelsea’s plans and the suitors for him few and far between.
A return to Inter is now completely off the table after he burned his bridges there and Juventus also appear to be pulling their interest too.
That operation is ‘substantially on stand-by’ as there is a €10m difference between the two clubs in their valuations.
Juventus have asked for €30m plus Lukaku in exchange for Vlahovic but so far Chelsea have only offered €20m. The Blues are yet to move from that point, and it’s led the negotiation to a ‘stalemate stage’.
In the meantime, Vlahovic has been impressing for Juventus in pre-season and that has led to a growing belief the Italian side will decide to keep him rather than move him on this summer.
That, of course, is bad news for Lukaku, who burned his bridges with Inter by talking to Juventus in the first place and now faces a scenario wherein they aren’t interested in him anymore and a potential Stamford Bridge exit route is completely closed off to him.
