Chelsea outcast Romelu Lukaku remains a dream target for Roma, but an unlikely one unless the Blues change their demands for him.
That’s according to Gianluca di Marzio, who says Roma would like to take the Belgian on loan from Chelsea and are even willing to pay 100% of his wages to do so.
The journalist reports that after signing Sardar Azmoun, Roma would still like to add another forward to Jose Mourinho’s squad to give him a more rounded set of options in that area of the team.
Lukaku remains the ‘dream’ idea but a deal for him would only be an option if Chelsea ‘open up’ to the idea of a loan without an obligation to buy him included.
Roma have indicated that they are willing to pay 100% of Lukaku’s salary, something they clearly believe is a major incentive for Chelsea, but so far those in charge at Stamford Bridge aren’t keen.
They would prefer to sell Lukaku on a permanent basis and are pushing the player towards Saudi Arabia, but that proposal has been rejected by the striker.
Thus, there is no ongoing negotiation between Roma and Chelsea and the Italian side consider him a ‘very complicated’ option to pull off.
If Chelsea change their mind on a loan, though, they will do all they can to ensure they get him in before the end of the transfer window.
