When Milan loaned Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea, their need for a centre-back was quite urgent due to lack of depth at the role.

While he sat out the first game following his transfer against Atalanta, appearing on the bench in the 3-0 loss without coming on, he’s started the two subsequent games, which the Serie A side have both won.

This weekend’s was the 4-0 demolition of Crotone, and the Chelsea loanee impressed.

Gazzetta dello Sport go out of their way to point out the player has ‘confirmed’ his ability with his performance, ‘always present’ and acting as the ‘buffer’.

They describe him as a ‘badass (read tough) guy’ who puts in a ‘good graft’, and what he lacks in finesse, he makes up in ‘pragmatism’.

That’s why they believe he’s been ideal in ‘grouting the crack’ left by Simon Kjaer’s injury, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future as the Denmark international recovers from an issue in his biceps femoris muscle.

This will be good news for Chelsea, as the Blues sent Tomori there to get some game time, and that’s exactly what he’s getting.

If Milan decide to keep him, the Blues will get upwards of €25m, but if they don’t, they’ll get a more experienced player back, versed in the art of Serie A defending.
