Chelsea defender Ian Maatsen has interest from Nottingham Forest and relegated Burnley should he leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

That’s according to 1908.nl, who say the English duo are competing with Feyenoord for the full-back’s signature.

Maatsen returned to Chelsea this summer following a loan deal with Coventry City last season and is currently a part of Thomas Tuchel’s squad in pre-season.

He had been expected to move to Feyenoord, with reports stating he had even travelled to the Netherlands and was simply waiting for Chelsea to reach an agreement on a loan deal.

Since then, the prospect of a move has pulled back, with it claimed the youngster would prefer to fight to impress at Chelsea this summer before deciding his future.

1908 confirm as much, stating that the left-back ‘brushed aside’ the initial interest shown by Feyenoord and is now ‘coveted’ by sides in England.

Nottingham Forest have shown an interest as they continue building this summer, while relegated Burnley, who are also rebuilding after relegation, are also keen.

Maatsen would prefer to stay in England this year, and his plan is to first try and prove himself at Chelsea in pre-season.

If that does not work out, a move to the Premier League or Championship would be more appealing than a switch to the Eredivisie.

Both Nottingham Forest and even Burnley can offer him a ‘much better salary’ than the Rotterdammers and play in more competitive leagues to boot.

For now, it appears there is nothing on the table as he looks to impress Thomas Tuchel first, but should the German coach decide he doesn’t want the defender, expect moves from England.
