There are two more Premier League sides in the race for Sporting winger Joelson Fernandes, according to claims from Portugal today.

Newspaper A Bola writes that Chelsea and Manchester City have both joined Arsenal in the battle for the winger.

The Gunners were the first to move, with their latest bid of €32m being rejected by the Lions this week. But the interest from other English clubs is taken very seriously as well.

It’s claimed that both Chelsea and Manchester City got in touch with the player’s agent Kia Joorabchian lately. They wanted to know how much it’d take for Sporting to let Joelson go, and the response wasn’t ‘scary’ for either of them.

Officials from both Chelsea and Manchester City are expected to have more meetings this week, and there are ‘serious possibilities’ that one of these clubs could trigger Joelson’s €45m release clause. They’ve both realised that this is the only way to take the player out of Sporting.

A Bola claims that other clubs such as Barcelona and Juventus have been following the 17-year-old, but their interest has been losing strength lately. That’s why it’s becoming likelier that Joelson Fernandes will end up in the Premier League.
