For the past week or so, several reports from Italy have stated Chelsea and Juventus are in talks over a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku and Dušan Vlahović.
On Wednesday, Gazzetta dello Sport stated the Blues have an urgent need to get this deal over the line after Christopher Nkunku suffered an injury.
Gianluca Di Marzio took to Twitter to explain that Juventus have ‘received’ an offer from Chelsea.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have proposed €20m plus €5m bonuses and Lukaku in return for the 23-year-old Serbian. This has been rejected by the Turin club as they want €40m and the Belgium international for Vlahović.
The journalist has further explained that for now, the Premier League side don’t intend to agree a swap deal as the distance in valuation is ‘too high’.
Di Marzio’s claim is echoed by Sport Mediaset. They add the English club are interested in Vlahović but aren’t willing to meet Juve’s conditions. Therefore, Chelsea have stopped discussions with the Old Lady over an exchange involving the striker duo.
This will force Lukaku to look for a new club as he’s not included in Pochettino’s plans. Sport Mediaset add Chelsea are expected to sell him to Saudi Arabia in September, if he’s still at the Bridge.
