Chelsea are yet to sign a single player in the January transfer window.

For a club that has acquired a reputation for signing players at a quick pace, the Blues have been rather quiet in the incoming department this month.

Chelsea were linked with a surprise move for Juventus’ Douglas Luiz yesterday and there appear to be ongoing attempts in play.

La Stampa today have reported that with Renato Veiga all but set to join Juventus this month on a loan deal, the Blues’ interest in the ex-Aston Villa player has emerged.

Chelsea have made a ‘new request for information’ for the player and it suggests their interest in the 26-year-old is serious.

As of now, Juve have no intention of a loan exit and would only accept a permanent sale.

At the same time, Gazzetta dello Sport have also reported on the London club’s liking for Douglas Luiz.

They too seem insistent that the Brazil international will not depart Turin on a loan deal. There is also major interest from a host of other Premier League sides but that will not deter Juve from their stance.
