Chelsea are today said to be one of the front-runners for the signing of Giorgio Scalvini from Atalanta.
That’s reported by Corriere Della Sera’s Bergamo edition, who report that an ‘international auction’ is expected for the player in the summer transfer window.
It’s said Chelsea have Scalvini as a ‘very serious goal’ in the market, even though they still must understand their financial situation by then, since it’s very likely they’ll miss out on the Champions League.
The problem is the competition for his signing, since ‘all the best clubs in Europe are there’.
That’s a very good reason for Atalanta to get prepared for a big sale, and that’s why the Serie A side will demand ‘over €40m’ to let him go.
Besides Chelsea, the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Bayern Munich are all interested in the youngster centre-back.
Italian clubs are said to be keeping an eye on him as well, but they’re actually unlikely to join that battle, simply because of his price.
Corriere Della Sera claims that the price can be ‘frightening’ for most clubs who think of joining that race.
