Chelsea have emerged as an ‘option’ for Real Madrid’s Álvaro Odriozola in the summer, according to today’s Mundo Deportivo.
The fullback was restricted to 92 minutes of action from six games last season. With a year left on his deal, it’s said he wants to leave Los Blancos and return to Real Sociedad.
La Real also want the 27-year-old, but on a free transfer. This wouldn’t be easy considering the Madrid club paid €32m to secure his services in 2018.
It’s claimed there are other clubs who have ‘taken an interest’ in the Spain international’s situation, including Chelsea and Athletic Club Bilbao.
The newspaper adds both the Blues and the Basque club have ‘asked about’ him, without making clear if the two clubs contacted Carlo Ancelotti’s side or the player.
Mundo explain that sorting out Odriozola’s future isn’t urgent for the Spanish giants, who are now focusing on presenting their new signing, Jude Bellingham, later this week and bringing in a replacement for Karim Benzema.
With Odriozola currently favouring a move back to Real Sociedad, Chelsea would have to convince him, if they wish to sign him in the summer window.
