After completing a deal for Kalidou Koulibaly, Chelsea want to sign another centre-back and have identified Paris Saint-Germain’s Presnel Kimpembe as one of their targets.

Comments from the France international last month, in which he talked about his future and contractual situation, didn’t go down well with the Ligue 1 winners’ new management. This led to claims PSG will let the defender leave this summer.

L’Equipe have a report on the 26-year-old’s current status at the club after his ‘innocent’ statement, and they also cover Chelsea’s interest in him.

PSG’s official stance is they don’t want to part ways with the Frenchman, but will sit down to negotiate with another club if he were to ask for a move.

It’s said clubs who are interested in Kimpembe have already made contact with PSG and his entourage. This includes Chelsea as their interest in him goes back several years, even before Thomas Tuchel arrived at Stamford Bridge.

The report adds PSG have received two offers from the Blues and an unnamed club for Kimpembe. Both were deemed ‘insufficient’ by the French champions.

L’Equipe don’t indicate whether Chelsea will return with an improved offer to sign the player.
