Chelsea may be leading the race for Palmeiras wonderkid Estevão Willian, but there’s still no guarantee they’ll win it.
UOL today shares a story claiming that even though the Blues placed the ‘best offer’ for the youngster so far, they’re still to meet the Brazilian side’s demands.
It’s said Palmeiras do not consider the deal as closed, and are waiting for other bids from Arsenal, Barcelona, Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain.
According to journalist Danilo Lavieri, Chelsea offered €30m for the player, with bonuses which could make it reach something close to €60m.
Palmeiras, however, want more money guaranteed. Their idea is to have easily achievable bonuses which make the deal reach €45m, and then the others can take it to €60m. They also want a clause which stops the Blues from selling the player before the goals for the €45m amount are met.
An update from journalist Bruno Andrade then claimed that Chelsea raised their offer, with €35m initially and €25m in bonuses. It’s said they’re still negotiating the variables, but it seems there’s been an advance.
Estevão only turns 18 in April, so he can only move in the summer of 2025.
