Chelsea have reportedly joined the list of sides who are interested in signing Sporting’s Ruben Semedo.
According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the defender could already be part of Antonio Conte’s list of signings for the winter market.
Semedo is currently very well protected with a €45m (just over £40m at the current exchange rate) release clause in a Sporting contract which runs until 2022.
He has already started nine games for Sporting this season, so it would be very unlikely to see the Lions keen on a January sale, meaning Chelsea would likely have to meet the clause.
The player spent half of last season on loan at Vitória Guimarães, but when he returned to the club at the start of the year, he grabbed a place and never left the team.
In September, we’ve covered an article from O Jogo which said Chelsea had sent scouts to Sporting’s match against Rio Ave. Coincidentally, one of the players who had a great performance in that game was Semedo.
