Bought from Vasco da Gama last January but only arriving for good at Chelsea in the summer, Andrey Santos was then sent on loan to Nottingham Forest.
The young Brazilian, however, has found it hard to convince his manager there, with reports revealing the Blues now want to cut the deal short and bring him back in January.
With little room for him at Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino and those around him need to find a new solution for the midfielder, which could have been Strasbourg, according to L’Equipe, except for one detail.
The French newspaper explain that the Ligue 1 side will be looking to improve their squad in January, and the name of Santos came up as a potential solution.
He is also managed by the same agents as Angelo, who is currently on loan there from Chelsea, which would have made talks very easy.
The problem is that Chelsea have ‘reached their quota of seven foreign loans’, and a deal for Santos is therefore not a priority with the French side.
It seems that had the Blues still had a spot open for another temporary deal abroad, however, things could have been very different.
