With the power of hindsight, it’s fair to say that most of us got Chelsea completely wrong this season.
The prediction from all quarters was that the Blues would struggle under Frank Lampard this year, with the transfer ban limiting their ability to keep up.
Instead, Chelsea have flourished because of it, with Lampard backing the club’s youth products and all of them rewarding that faith already.
While the club seems determined to stick with their newfound policy moving forward, there will come a time when they can sign players again, and it’s easy to presume they are planning.
One player they may be looking at is Hertha Berlin forward Javairô Dilrosun, with Todo Fichajes claiming they’ve been told as much.
According to the website, Chelsea are ‘very interested’ in signing the 21-year-old, who has been impressing in the Bundesliga this season.
The Dutchman has a contract with Hertha until 2022 but would be available for ‘around €20m’ according to the information Todo Fichajes have been given.
Chelsea are not the only interested party, with Borussia Dortmund having also showing interest in his signing.
This tallies with a previous report from CalcioMercato that suggested Chelsea had ‘set their eyes’ on the winger and they also suggested Dortmund were keen which indicates that somewhere an agent is talking and sharing this information.
Chelsea are still banned from signing players, though, this may be one to keep an eye on for next summer unless that ban is overturned.
