With talk from Germany that Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus, an exit would be expected from the Bavarian side to make room.

It’s no secret that Chelsea have been trying to reach an agreement with the Serie A side for the Dutchman, but as the reports suggest the centre-back wants the move to the Bundesliga, other options need to be looked at at Stamford Bridge.

And, according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, one of these could be at Bayern Munich.

That man is Benjamin Pavard, who can operation both at right-back and in the heart of the defence, with it said ‘he could leave the club in the summer’, as ‘talks about his future have taken place’.

Regarding the interested parties, Plettenberg reveals Atlético Madrid, Chelsea and Juventus are interested, with the latter two being there clearly as a domino effect of a potential De Ligt to Bayern Munich deal.

We’ll have to see if anything more comes from this, but if the German side are open to a sale, it could end up being a bit of an easier deal to strike than one for the Dutchman.

If Chelsea do end up getting Pavard, they would be welcoming a highly experienced 26-year-old, who already has 45 caps for France.
