For the past week or so, reports coming out of Portugal explained Thomas Tuchel is keen on signing Julian Weigl and Chelsea have made contact with the Benfica player’s representatives.

It was also explained the Primeira Liga side will need €30m to sanction the midfielder’s sale in the summer.

The 25-year-old played under the Blues manager when the two were at Borussia Dortmund.

Claims made in the Portuguese press about Chelsea as a suitor for the Germany international have been relayed by Foot Mercato.

Benfica finished third in the table last season and it’s claimed the Eagles are planning to make changes to their midfield.
