Chelsea are today once again linked to Porto winger Pepê.

This time, the news comes from Brazil, in a story which actually doesn’t have a lot to do with transfer business.

UOL today features a piece claiming Pepê was invited to join the Paraguayan national team. His mother’s family is from that country and they’re now trying to convince the player to be part of their squad.

Only then, journalist André Hernan writes that the 25-year-old winger is a target for European clubs in the ‘next transfer window’. That’s where Chelsea come in, as they’re the only side who are named.

The Blues’ links with Pepê have been going on for a while, and this week, the Portuguese media once again highlighted the chase for the player.

It was claimed by newspaper Record that Chelsea are ‘attentively following’ the winger’s evolution at Porto, even though he’s well protected by the Dragons with a €75m release clause.

The Blues were said to be aware of the player’s price, and with Hernan talking about the possibility of a January transfer, perhaps we could see some moves taking place soon.
