Late on Thursday, a story emerged in Italy claiming that Mauricio Pochettino, as part of his talks with Chelsea, had already given his approval for the club to buy André Onana from Inter Milan.

The idea behind this would be to put an end to the big question mark surrounding the goalkeeping situation at Stamford Bridge, which would add some stability to the squad.

Well, Sport Mediaset in Italy claim that a meeting between the two clubs has already been held for the Cameroon international.

This was used to ‘set the stakes for a negotiation’ that will begin ‘in the coming weeks’, as Inter are asking for ‘at least €40m’ from any interested party, in this case Chelsea.

What was made clear, though, is that the Serie A side ‘do not want to include’ Keep Arrizabalaga in the talks, which is something Chelsea were trying to make happen.

That’s because they have a clear goal in mind to replace Onana, and that’s Guglielmo Vicario, currently contracted to Empoli.

Inter would want to strike a deal with Chelsea ‘with no counterparts’, but the Blues, who have a surplus of personnel at this moment in time, would clearly prefer to include someone.

With that in mind, there could be one or two that the Italians ‘are willing to evaluate’, with those mentioned being Trevoh Chalobah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
