Chelsea are in the chase for Atalanta star Giorgio Scalvini, according to FcInterNews.

The 19-year-old has made 32 appearances this season, managing two goals and two assists in the process. His form has caught the attention of clubs in Italy and abroad.

Chelsea are one of the foreign clubs to have ‘set their sights on him’. The Blues get a mention in the report that explains Inter Milan’s desire to buy the centre-back in the summer.

Giuseppe Marotta has already confirmed his side’s interest in the Italy international, but the Nerazzurri will face significant problems to secure his services.

Atalanta, who are not in a hurry to sell, want at least €40m for him. They ‘would like only cash’, but this isn’t their definitive stance, considering they are also known to take young players as part of the operation.

His contract lasts until 2027, with an annual salary of €250,000 plus bonuses. With Chelsea, Inter and other clubs in the mix to sign the defender, Atalanta have moved in to offer him a new deal worth €1m per year.

There’s still no agreement over a renewal because the player’s aware he can earn much more elsewhere. The lack of agreement could also ‘push him to ask for a transfer’ in the summer, which would then put pressure on Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to sell him.

Inter are in regular contact with Scalvini’s agent. Chelsea will have to act fast and take further steps, if they wish to sign the player in the summer.
