A month ago, we carried a report from A Bola, who stated Chelsea approached FC Porto to find out the possibility of signing Mehdi Taremi in the summer window.

It was also explained the west London club got in touch with the striker’s agent. He was keen to join them, but the Dragons were not interested in the deal.

Friday’s edition of A Bola has a report on the 30-year-old, with a title that states Chelsea have ‘set their sights’ on him for January.

Within the report, it’s claimed the Blues are committed to the Iran international, provided there is an opening from the Portuguese club.

If Chelsea receive indication that a negotiation is possible with Porto, they can go ahead and table an offer to secure his services.

The frontman has managed seven goals and six assists in all competitions this season and his aim is leading his country’s attack at the World Cup. The report states Qatar can open the door for him to make a switch to a new destination.

After Sérgio Conceição’s side were against letting the player leave in the summer, A Bola explains his agent realised that post World Cup would be the ‘right time’ for Taremi to change clubs.

Porto will have the final say over a potential transfer. Chelsea have already tried in the last window, and they are in the mix to sign Taremi in January, if they receive an opening from the Primeira Liga side.
