Chelsea have seen a €55m proposal for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Alexis MacAllister ‘turned down’ by the Seagulls.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say Brighton decided to ‘send the proposal back’ when they received it.
Chelsea have been spending big on improving Graham Potter’s squad this month, opening the chequebook to sign the likes of Mykhaylo Mudryk, Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke, Andrey Santos, David Datro Fofana and Joao Felix.
They now seem determined to further add to their midfield and have lodged bids for the likes of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.
Potter naturally knows the former from his time at Brighton and it seems another of his former players is also in his sights.
TuttoMercatoWeb report that they have made a ‘maxi offer’ for Alexis MacAllister, submitting a €55m offer ‘in the last hours’.
Brighton, though, weren’t interested in doing a deal with the Blues and decided to turn down the offer and send it back to Stamford Bridge.
Whether they’ve dismissed the interest out of hand or simply aren’t interested in selling at that price isn’t made clear; just that this first bid from Chelsea has been rejected.
It now remains to be seen if Potter and co. return with a second offer to sign the World Cup winner before the end of the window.
