Real Madrid have to be wary of competition from Chelsea to sign AFC Bournemouth star Dean Huijsen in the summer window.
That’s according to Marca, and their journalist, José Félix Díaz, covers Real Madrid and Chelsea’s interest in the defender.
The 19-year-old arrived at Bournemouth from Juventus last summer and excelled in his debut season in the Premier League.
Spain U21 manager Santi Denia initially included him in the squad for this international break. Luis de la Fuente then called up the Bournemouth player after Barcelona defender Iñigo Martínez’s withdrawal from the squad.
On Thursday, Huijsen came off the bench in the 41st minute after Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsí picked up an injury in Spain’s 2-2 draw against the Netherlands at De Kuip.
Marca claim Chelsea sent a scout to the Netherlands to watch the young centre-back closely in action. Real Madrid also had their official following the Bournemouth man.
The report adds the Blues want him and are ‘great rival’ of Real Madrid, if they decide to make Huijsen their priority target for the summer window.
Huijsen has publicly stated he’s willing to make a move to La Liga and is flattered by Real Madrid’s reported interest.
